Release date: Sep 4, 2026

Assisi

“Assisi”, from the album Here And Other Faraway Places, finds Frenchman Max Foucher at his most quietly contemplative, combining the organic imperfections of found sound with the slow, enveloping textures of ambient electronica. Over its unhurried, almost processional pace, warm sustained tones and softly pulsing electronic layers gradually gather around distant, tactile sounds, creating an atmosphere that feels simultaneously intimate and expansive. There is a subdued sense of reverence running through the piece: not overtly devotional, but suggested in its spaciousness, harmonic stillness, and patient unfolding, as though the music were listening as much as speaking. Foucher’s production is characteristically restrained, allowing individual sounds to retain their grain and physical presence while blending them into a hazy, immersive whole.

Here And Other Faraway Places

“Assisi”, like the rest of 'Here And Other Faraway Places', was recorded in April 2026 in Milan, Rome, and Malta. The album is an inner journey through cities, memories, and imagined destinations, where passing voices, traffic signals, police sirens, industrial hum, birdsong, and countless other fragments of everyday life drift in and out of subtle, melodic, and often hypnotic electronics. The album carries an elusive spiritual undercurrent, with its church bells and suggestive titles—'Assisi', 'Loreto', 'Urbs', 'Way Pilgrim', 'Swimming The Tiber', 'This My Crusade'—evoking pilgrimage, faith, and the restless search for somewhere beyond the familiar. Yet this is no literal travelogue. Foucher transforms the sounds of movement and place into something dreamlike and ambiguous, where tracks like 'Sforza', 'Maleth', and 'Somerled' feel less like destinations than fragments of a half-remembered journey. Like his debut Music For Landfill, it finds beauty in the overlooked and accidental, turning the noise of passing life into an atmospheric, mysterious, and deeply transportive piece of electronic music.

'Here And Other Faraway Places' is out now on Gasworks Records and is available to buy on Bandcamp.

Max Foucher - shh ... they'll hear us

The latest release by Max Foucher titled 'shh ... they'll hear us' is now playing on M.P.R Ambient.

Release date: Mar 5, 2026

'shh ... they'll hear us' is the opening track from Max Foucher's debut album 'Music For Landfill', released by Gasworks Records on 5th March 2026. The track, like the rest of the album, is a field recording piece woven around ambient electronica. It was recorded in and around the kitchens of the Waldorf Astoria hotel in Dubai in December 2025.

Music For Landfill is the debut album from field recordist and sound collage artist Max Foucher. Constructed from fragments of everyday environments, the record blends found sound, environmental recordings and subtle ambient textures into a series of vivid sonic vignettes. Conversations, passing machinery, wind, water and fleeting human moments become the raw material for compositions that transform overlooked noise into atmosphere, memory and narrative.
